That said, I'd still hook up a mouse and keyboard to the Deck to play it - AoE really feels too slow Ageof Empires II: Definitive Edition. If the upcoming DLC is anything to go by, there should be Steam Deck compatibility on its way, if a file depot reference is to go by. That being said, we don't have an official announcement about said DLC aside from some teasers, so whether Steam Deck compatibility is also coming, remains to be seen. Im playing AoE 4 on a Steam Deck and it works pretty well. If you want additional devices, you'll need a docking station or a USB-C hub. That said, I was incredibly surprised how well custom controller schemes work for strategy games on the Deck.
